Throwing a Monkey Wrench

“If someone puts or throws a wrench, or monkey wrench, in the works, they ruin a plan. In British English, ‘spanner’ is used instead of ‘wrench’. ” (Via)

As some of you know I have have been having a terrible time with my right shoulder. After trying all sorts of things with minimal or no results my doctor ordered an MRI to see what was going on. The test revealed that I have a rotator cuff tear which means I need surgery. Surgery is scheduled to be on August the 27th. Because I live by myself I have a lot of prepation to do before surgery and after surgery my arm will be in a surgical sling for 4-6 weeks making it hard to do anything! I thought I would try and blog through it all but I realized that it will be too much. So I’m putting the blog on hold until I get my sling off which should be late September or early October. Take care and I’ll see you soon. 🙂

  3. I have wondered, from time to time, when I am not worrying about my hideous problems re being thrown out of this flat and put into a bedsit on the other side of the city, what is going on with you, Jackie. I’m very sorry indeed about the latest monkey-wrench; and I hope VERY MUCH that you manage to extract it from wherever it is has been thrown and get rid of it.
Your life is not easy. Would that it were at least a little easier.
    Hug from me …

    • It sounds like you have a few nasty monkey wrenches of your own to deal with and for that I’m truly sorry. In my case the monkey wrenches keep coming but I will save those details for another time – I don’t have the energy to explain it right now. See newest post.

I will keep you in my thoughts that all will be well in the meantime – try to duck! A hug back to you…

  4. Hi Jackie

Sorry to hear about your shoulder problem. I hope all goes well with the surgery.

I stumbled across your website while following another blogger and it’s the first time I’ve seen anyone using the same theme as me – and I obviously like it a lot. 🙂 One question though – how do you get it to prompt for Older posts ? Mine seems to just keep going and going when you page down. Thanks in advance for your advice.

All the best and take care.

    • Thanks so much for your kind words – much appreciated! Go to your dashboard and click on settings. Look for the category reading and click on that. Scroll down a bit and you should see a box that says scroll indefinitely – if it is checked uncheck it. Hopefully I answered your question well enough so you can fix it. 🙂

      • Hi Jackie,
Many thanks for your quick reply and advice, but I don’t see the words category or reading on what I think is the Settings page. I see General, Writing, Discussion and Analytics headings but nothing like reading… Sorry for being so dumb !
        Kind regards, Mike

        • You’re not being dumb – for some reason the whole menu is not showing up for you. The settings menu should have the Reading category between Writing and Discussion. Not sure why it is not showing up that way for you. Are you on a mobile device or a laptop/desktop? You may need to reboot.

          • Wait! I just realized what the problem is! Scroll down just a little past settings and you should see View Admin – click on that. After you log in you should see your dashboard. Now you should be able to follow the steps I first mentioned. Sorry for the confusion – I hope I haven’t confused you further!!

            • Thanks Jackie. All sorted now I hope. (It said I need to post another blog before it takes effect, but…) The issue was that I wasn’t using the full dashboard menu down the left hand side (which appears in black on my laptop screen). Under Settings there I see many more options like Media, Sharing, Polls, Ratings, etc. I’m not sure why these don’t appear under the other (white) screen.
Anyway, many thanks for helping sort it out. Much appreciated !

Again, good luck with the op. and I hope your shoulder recovers quickly.

              Kind regards
              Mike

  5. If someone were to ask when you’re in the sling, you can tell them you felt a twinge in your shoulder when you were throwing your 99 mph fastball. 😉

    Take care of yourself.

    • I may use that! 😉 thank you so much for your very kind words. I’m not looking forward to surgery or the recovery time but I sure am looking forward to have a working shoulder again! 😀

  6. I will miss your beautiful photos and understand how difficult it will be for you not to be able to take those photos for a while. Tomorrow I am picking up my physical therapy sessions for my rotator cuff after a two-week hiatus… I will find out how much damage I did with my fall and how much (or little) I can accomplish at the session. But I still keep my fingers crossed I will be able to avoid surgery. In the meantime, I continue to send you healing vibes… and please stay away from those spanners!

  7. Oh no Jackie – I’m so sorry! I was just catching up on all my reading – slow service on vacation – and realized I hadn’t seen any of your dailies. I will miss them but look forward to seeing them in Sept. :). Good luck.

    • Thanks so much for your kind comment. Although I’m not looking forward to the surgery I am looking forward to having a less painful shoulder. All I have to do is follow the doctors and physical therapists orders to the letter and I should be good as new. 🙂

  8. I must have a talk with the monkeys here to leave the wrenches out and not leave it by you Jackie. 😛

Sorry to hear about the problems you’re having and wishes for quick healing and all of the best. Take care of yourself. 😀 ♥

  9. The best of everything to you Jackie. Having just gone thru it, I feel for you and hope some of the things I blogged about will help you. I also hope you have a wonderful surgeon like I did, and the immobilization last just 4 weeks and not 6. Seeya when you get back, or if you peck out a few messages on FB. I got pretty good typing short things with one hand, lol!

    • Thank you for all your support and encouragement Nancy! Your posts have helped a lot – thank you for taking the time to create them. I figure I will take it one day at a time and do exactly what the doctors and physical therapists say. 🙂
