We interrupt the posts on this blog to bring you this special note from the blogger. . .
As some of you already know I have been struggling with back issues for a very long time. I was able to manage up until about 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with sciatica. Since then, I have noticed a slow decline in my ability to be able to do things I normally do and more frequent flare ups of pain. About 2 months the pain and discomfort became much, much worse. I knew something had changed dramatically so it was time to have my back reevaluated.
I talked to my doctor and he ordered an X-ray. After seeing the results of that he ordered an MRI. That was last Friday. The doctor called me a couple of days ago and told me that the results of the MRI showed that I have Spondylolisthesis. What that means is one of the vertebrae in my spine has slipped over the one below it. He considers the slippage to be severe. The next step is for me to go to a back specialist. I’m now waiting for a call from them.
At this point, I won’t know for sure what the future holds as far as treatment options and whatnot until I see that doctor. What I do know for sure is I’m not giving up blogging or putting the blog on hold like I did before (also see this post). There will only be one change – since I’m having more difficulty walking and can’t get out and about everyday I will be fudging the rules a bit by picking photos from my archives that have never been published.
