Splendid picture. I have tried to do it, but it does not work with the camera from my phone 😦
Sometimes I believe that I have more darker side in me than brighter
Thank you! I’m using a Nikon COOLPIX P600 which has a built in lens. It is not cheap but it’s not as bad as the models where you change lenses. The skill and knowledge to use a camera comes from practicing lots and lots not what equipment you use. Not unlike playing the guitar and singing. 😉
I was given the instruction once that I should take so many photos that the camera becomes an extension of my arm my body. My camera is a Nikon d3100. You are right that I should do the best I can with the instruments I have..
ANY decent camera will do good night pictures if you know what you are doing. I prefer Nikon but there are many who prefer Canon – it’s like the PC vs Mac fight that has been going on for years. Some camera shops rent out cameras – you could do it that way and see which one you like. OR another way to check is to look at captures from each type of camera and see which you prefer.
Thank you! I’m using a Nikon COOLPIX P600. A tripod is strongly recommended to get good night shots. It’s not just about the equipment, it’s about understanding how light works. Now come on, we all have a darker side. 😉
To be honest, this is a photo from March of 2014. This year the wolf moon was obscured by the snowstorm that blew through our area on January 23rd. My sciatica has been acting up so I picked a photo from the archives that I’m pretty sure I haven’t published. I didn’t think to mention it in the post because I mention it in the ‘about this blog’ section of my blog. That said, I was lucky to catch the moon rise just as it was coming up behind the trees. My apartment building is located in the perfect place to see the moon rise. 🙂
Yes we didn’t get much of a look at the moon either with snow so think I could hardly see the house across from me. Good luck with the sciatica ….been there and done that and it hurts so bad!
Thanks! I’ve been dealing with it for about 3 or 4 years now. And you are right about it hurting so bad. I’ll be fine – it just takes a little time for the inflammation to subside. 🙂

Thank you! Unfortunately, taking a photo of the moon with a camera phone doesn’t work so well. 😦 I think we all have equal parts of both. 😉

Wow really nice, I wish I could afford the proper lens to get this sort of shot. Also the skill and knowledge to use the camera in the first place! 🙂

Jackie, so did you have to lighten the pic up considerably, or did the camera take it like that?

It basically came out of the camera like that all I did was make some adjustments when I processed the photo.

That’s awesome. The reason I ask is I’m looking for a camera at the minute.

How exciting! I’m using a Nikon COOLPIX P600 if that is any help.

That does help, thank you! What do you think of the Canon Rebel T5i?

I’m a Nikon girl all the way so you will have to ask someone who uses a Canon.

So are Nikons just better in your opinion? I’ve really narrowed it down to either of those. I mean, yours does do awesome at night.
