“Built about 1850 as a house, this building was originally located in nearby Pawcatuck, Conn., and was given to the Museum in 1954. The creation of this exhibit was in large part the vision of George H. Stone, a retired merchant and resident of North Stonington, who personally stocked the shelves with his own collection of historic items. Rich in ambiance and nostalgia, the store is filled with reminders of community life and foodways of the mid-19th century.” To read more about Mystic Seaport’s 19th Century Village click here

It’s great to see a collection of yesteryear’s ‘modcons’ all together in your picture and I bet fascinating for today’s younger people to see how/what/why these items were used! The Mystic Seaport looks lovely and very educational too 🙂

Great store and I like that stove and had something similar in our firts house. Boy did it work well and gave warmth as it was lined with stone on the inside. The brand was “Broadway”.

I think sometimes things are better in days gone by than they are in the here and now.
