“Moths are a group of insects related to butterflies belonging to the order Lepidoptera. Most lepidopterans are moths and there are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth, many of which are yet to be described. Most species of moth are nocturnal, but there are also crepuscular and diurnal species.” (To read more about moths click here)

Beautiful!
I love moths, because their beauty isn’t as obvious as those of butterflies, and the soft corner I have for them might be because of a folklore I read as kid that talked of how moths had given up their beautiful colors (unlike their vain cousins, the butterflies) to create rainbows so that the angels in the sky would stop crying (rain on earth) and humans would be happy again. I know that’s pretty unfair to the butterflies, but I love the tale 😀

A lot of attention is paid to butterflies but moths can be just as beautiful. I’m so happy you like my processing. 🙂

A beautiful picture! Moths are so pretty, in my mind, merely by their simplicity, in most cases, and the one you have captured is no exception! 🙂

Thanks so much! And we are in full agreement on moths. I have seen some that have markings that are just as beautiful as butterfly markings. 🙂

Thank you! Most people focus on butterflies but there are some very beautiful moths flitting around out there that deserve to noticed too. 🙂
