“A species belonging to the genus Lilium, oriental lilies have an extremely high commercial value. They, along with a few other members of its genus, are highly favored as commercial cut flowers. This flower can be easily grown in home gardens too with a little bit of information about its bulb handling, planting, growth habits, and care. Oriental lilies are hybrids developed from crossing East Asian species.” (Source)

I actually bought a bouquet of pure white ones yesterday, I haven’t bought flowers in such an age, but, I wanted the hallway to look and smell lovely, when Jen and Alex come tomorrow evening:-D With any luck they should be open just about perfectly for the celebrations on Saturday too 😉

What a lovely thing to do – I know they will appreciate the gesture. I’ll bet they will look beautiful as they open. 😀

This is a beautiful photo Jackie, it looks stunning against the dark background. They are truly beautiful flowers to look at, but I can’t stand the fragrance, it’s just too pungent for me. I know some who love it though. I understand the stamens are poisonous to cats. I think it’s the stamens? Pxx

Thanks so much, Christine! I know what you mean about the fragrance. It is very pungent. I don’t mind it as long as there is good ventilation. I think the whole plant is poisonous to cats. 🙂 xx

Gorgeous is the word that comes to mind, the flower you chose and your picture of it, both.
