“You may have walked right pass it. You may have stepped on or trampled right over it. You may have chosen a sunflower or tulip nearby instead of giving some attention to this small but amazing flower. That is okay because you are not the only one! The Common Blue Violet, scientifically known as Viola sororia, is a beautiful wildflower that is often ignored because of its size. Its beauty is condensed into a stem and flowering parts of less than five to six inches tall.” To read more about this wildflower click here

I know what you mean! But if I’m honest I have to admit I probably did a time or two before I became more aware of nature. 😉 xx

Such beautiful tiny little things, but worth the effort to stop and admire. Your photo is great! Around here for some reason, we call them Johnny Jump Ups.

Thanks so much, Nancy! There are a lot of different types of violets. Johnny Jump Ups look very similar to the ones I posted. Some of them look like mini pansy flowers too.

We probably just call them all Johnny Jump Ups Jackie. The first bouquet of flowers I ever got from a boy was a handful of them wrapped with a paper napkin. We were in the 5th grade. 🙂
